Rebecca Simkin brings a lifelong passion for fantasy to her writing. Her love for the genre runs deep and began at an early age when she named her first cats named Pippin and Merry. After spending her career in fundraising for non-profit organizations, she now writes epic fantasy novels and volunteers with the Sunburst Awards for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, and is a regional leader for Soaring Spirits International supporting local widowed people in Toronto.
Outside of writing and volunteering, Rebecca likes to keep active, enjoying cycling, hiking, and cross-country skiing. A student of culture, she also finds inspiration in traveling, exploring cities, museums, and visiting national parks around the world.
A York University graduate with a BFA in Visual Arts, Rebecca furthered her writing skills at Humber College School of Creative Writing and gained theatrical training at the Banff Centre for the Arts. More recently, she was recognized for her literary promise when she was awarded a scholarship from the Writer’s Circle of Durham Region.
Rebecca’s diverse experiences infuse her work with themes of compassion and understanding, heroism and care for others.
